Paste a video, podcast, article, filing, or document. Yank finds five sourced lines worth knowing and turns them into cards designed to save and share.
Sometimes it's how something was said. Sometimes it's what the source puts on the record.
Every line stays connected to where it came from, so you can check the source instead of taking Yank's word for it.
The artifact is the product.
Yank isn't a summarizer. It doesn't try to replace the source. It preserves the parts worth knowing and keeps them connected to the evidence behind them.
And if Yank can't produce five useful, source-backed lines without padding, it refuses.
Could you just ask ChatGPT for the five most important parts? Yes, and we did, on the same article, then asked it which one to trust. Why use Yank over AI platforms?
And there are sources a chat cannot reach at all. Paste an Instagram reel and ChatGPT asks you to upload the video; Yank transcribes the audio and returns five lines, each with the second it was said. It is not a captioning tool, and it is not a transcript. For readers who don't use audio, it is the part worth keeping, in a form that can be kept and shared.
Don’t want to watch the whole video? Yank it.
Don’t want to read the whole article? Yank it.
Don’t want to sift through the whole thing? Yank it.
The words. Verbatim means the line matches the source Yank checked. If Yank distills the source into a clearer line, it's labeled distilled.
The moment. When a precise location is available, Yank tells you where the line came from: a timestamp, page, section, or other source location.
The context. Open In context to see what surrounded the line in the source.
The address. Public Yanks get permanent addresses that can be shared, cited, and returned to.
That makes a Yank more than a quoteshot. A quoteshot is a file. A Yank card is a page.
Search the Yank library by line, source, or subject. Free, no account required, and open to software through the JSON API and MCP server.
The extraction rules, verification system, and reasons Yank sometimes refuses a source are documented in How it works.
