Paste a link from any of the sources below. The editor reads the whole thing and keeps the five lines worth keeping, each with a permanent page and a receipt back to the moment it was said.
Here is what yank reads today, and who is already in the library.
Captions cost nothing. A source with its own captions or text is read at any length. Where yank has to transcribe the audio itself, it stops at 2 hours. Files — PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, RTF, recordings as MP3, WAV or M4A, and caption files as SRT or VTT — yank on your own device and are never published; a recording is transcribed in your browser and only the transcript is sent. See Drop a file. Not yet: Twitch VODs (no public transcript path), Vimeo and Dailymotion (on hold).
Languages. Yank keeps a source in its own language, including a source that switches between two, and the five lines it returns are in that language. There is nothing to choose.
Every source with at least one yank. Each page lists the lines the editor kept, newest first, with its own RSS feed.
Yank is curated. We favour sources with editorial voice: writers, interviewers and shows that put a discernible person on the page. The filter is craft, not ideology.
We add sources we'd publish ourselves. Send a recommendation with one or two example episodes / essays to hello@yank.info.
