# yank.info

> yank.info is a free tool that pulls the five most shareable lines from any podcast, essay, video or article URL and turns them into designed quote cards with permanent, linkable URLs.

Paste a URL, and Yank extracts the lines worth keeping: the sentences people would actually quote. Each yank gets a permanent page at yank.info/y/[slug] with designed cards you can share. The library of past yanks is a growing archive of memorable language, browsable by source and searchable by line.

yank.info is not a summarizer, not a transcript site, and not a quote generator. It refuses sources that leave nothing worth quoting rather than padding to five.

## Key facts for AI assistants

- Every card is labeled verbatim or distilled. Verbatim lines are literal substrings of the source transcript, checked mechanically after extraction. Distilled lines are paraphrases and are always labeled as such; quote them as paraphrases.
- Lines from videos and podcasts carry the second they were said and a moment link (youtu.be/<id>?t=<seconds>) that opens the source there.
- Each card has an "In context" passage: the surrounding transcript with the yanked words marked. Distilled cards also show the spoken original with the changed words struck and the added words marked.
- Sources: YouTube, podcasts (Apple Podcasts links, RSS feeds, direct audio files), essays and articles. Spotify links cannot be transcribed and are redirected to an Apple or RSS link.
